Year one. Ten guys, zero history, and not one of them had any idea this dumb little hobby was about to eat a decade of their Sundays alive. Innocent times.
Andrew Zimdars spent the regular season torching the league, going 11-3, the league's first scoring champ, the kind of résumé that should've come with the trophy pre-engraved. Instead he no-showed in the semis and limped home with bronze, watching Wesley Hoops, the 3-seed, a man who backed into the playoffs, walk off with the whole thing, 119-92 over Bernard Lynn. Best regular season in league history. Absolutely nothing to show for it. If there's a more humiliating way to lose a championship, this league hasn't found it yet. Give it time.
Andrew Vinz, meanwhile, was busy having the best week any of these idiots would see all year, 151 points in Week 6, an act of pure violence against Bernard Lynn that ended 151-81. Seventy points. Bernard didn't lose that game, he got slapped with a hotdog. And somehow he showed up in the championship two months later like nothing happened. Either short memory or no shame. This league will eventually learn it's both.
Not everybody got a highlight reel. Ryan Wingerson dropped a 46 in Week 4, setting the league's first floor, a score so bad it's basically a cry for help. And Bernard Lynn and Paul Loveland, never ones to commit to anything, looked at a 97-97 deadlock in Week 7 and just... left it there. Cowards, both of them. Pick a winner.
And closing out year one at 3-11: Dennis Lynn, ladies and gentlemen, the inaugural answer to "well, at least I'm not THAT guy." Every league needs a floor. Dennis built the foundation.
